5 tips that I use to try to live a meaningful life


I’ve learned if you feel like your actions have a purpose and meaning it can have a huge impact on your life. When you feel like you are living a meaningful life, you’re excited to get up in the morning. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in here are five tips that I use to try to live a meaningful life.


  1.  Know what is important in your life.


You have to know what is important to you. If you don’t know what matters to you, it is impossible to have meaning in your life. I’m not referring to the small things like making time to veg out in front of the TV or become immersed in video games. Instead, try to think of 5 things that show how you believe you should live your life. My list includes “family time”, “laughing often”, “being honest”, “listening” and “being there for friends”. If I try to include at least one or two of these items from my list I feel like my life has a meaning and purpose that can also benefit others.


  1. Finding and following your passion can dramatically improve your life.


When you are pursuing something you feel passionate about getting up in the morning can be exciting. Chances are that you’ll find that you can’t wait to get started on your project and when you are doing something you love it can create inner peace and joy that is contagious. Not only can it give your life more meaning, but it can also help inspire others to follow their dreams.


  1. Did you know that everything you do has an effect on someone else?


Whether it is a negative or positive effect will be up to you. I believe that everyone should be self-aware, and by this, I mean that you are always mindful of your words and actions. Taking a few seconds before issuing a response or taking any action will help prevent any unfortunate mistakes. At the end of every day, I usually take a couple of minutes to review my day and see if I said or did anything that might have been upsetting to someone around me.


  1. Simplify your life.


There are several benefits to simplifying your life that go beyond giving it meaning. While it will give you more time to pursue those things that are truly meaningful, it can also make your life a little easier to manage. You’ll also find that your stress level is dramatically reduced, and don’t be surprised if your productivity increases. Once I got rid of a few things that were taking up my time without giving my life any meaning I found that I was able to accomplish more throughout the day.


  1. People not things are important.


Today’s culture has almost everyone convinced that things are more important than people. This is simply not true, and it can leave you feeling depressed and like your life has no meaning. Forget about working extra hours to purchase a new car or bigger house that you don’t need and start spending more time with the people that matter to you. Not only will you feel like your life has a purpose, but you’ll also be happier and healthier.

Living healthy is expensive but here are some tips to help you


Everyone knows that living healthier is simply better, but unfortunately it can be expensive. Why organic food needs to be priced higher than items with additives is a mystery, but this is often the case. To help you live healthy without going broke, here are a few tips.


Look for sales : Sales, coupons and even store reward programs can all help you save money of healthy foods. I recommend planning your weekly meals around the items that are on sale. You’ll be surprised at how much money you can save. Most grocery stores send out weekly fliers with their sale items listed, this way you can still plan your meals in advance.


Don’t ignore frozen veggies: Frozen peas, carrots, broccoli and even cauliflower are a great way to eat healthy, without blowing your budget. Best of all you don’t have to worry about the vegetables spoiling. Simply thaw out what you need and freeze the rest. This is an easy way to save money and still get your daily serving of vegetables.


Buy seasonal produce: Some fruits and vegetables are seasonal, even though they can often be found all year. I have found that if I only purchase fresh produce when it is in season, I can save a lot of money on my grocery bill. Some items can even be frozen, and these I often buy in bulk. This way I can still enjoy the healthy benefits of fresh produce without having to pay expensive off season prices.


Look for cheaper cuts of meat: When I recommend cheaper cuts of meat I am referring to the price, not the quality. Healthy living often means cutting back on expensive steaks, and this is good news for your budget. Leaner meats like chicken, turkey and some fish are not only lower in fat and cholesterol, they are also budget friendly. Best of all you still get the protein and other nutrients you need to stay healthy and active.


Discover beans and whole grains : Black beans and whole grains are healthy, inexpensive and there are hundreds of ways you can use them in a meal. These foods are also a great way for vegetarians to make sure that they are getting the protein they need. These versatile foods can be served by themselves or used to “bulk up” a dish.

Starting Your Busy Day in the Best Way

Starting your day on the right foot can mean lots of things, but one thing is certain: you are not going to have a productive day if you are not considering a good breakfast before going out the door. I am used to working long hours, and that means that I am sometimes forced to skip lunch and end up nibbling on unhealthy foods. It is very important to have a filling healthy breakfast in the morning, if you want to be your best and truly enjoy your day.


8Here is what I do for a good healthy breakfast that does not take me a lot of time. I have yogurt for breakfast as a regular option, and I combine it with other foods that I know will be filling for my stomach and will take me through the day without me needing unhealthy foods to compensate. However, this does not mean that I just take yogurt from the store and fill my fridge with it. This is not how I do things. Being healthy is very important, and we all know now that eating foods that are prepackaged or sold commercially is not the way to go. Even if yogurt is one of the healthiest choices one can make for breakfast, if you are going to get the kind they sell in stores, you will not exactly be making a healthy choice. These are usually loaded with preservatives, sugar and other artificial stuff, so they are quite bad for you.


9I personally prefer making my own yogurt at home, from raw milk, and in order to have plenty, I use a yogurt maker. This machine really makes my life easier and it makes starting the day right really easy. The evening before, I start my machine and I pour in the milk and the starter and I schedule it for as long it is needed to get the yogurt consistency I like. The yogurt maker does its thing overnight and in the morning, I have fresh homemade yogurt. Since I make plenty in one go, what I do not eat I place in the refrigerator to have for the next days. This way, I do not need to use the yogurt maker every day, and I still have the best yogurt around, made by yours truly, without the need to spend on the artificial stuff they sell in stores.


Good health starts with a healthy gut and this is exactly what yogurt does for you. Ever since I embarked on this special diet of eating healthy at breakfast, I have been noticing my overall health improving. I feel more energetic, I feel good, and I even noticed losing a bit of weight. Right now, I don’t think I would ever keep up on eating like this, since it is so healthy and it makes me feel so great. Why I Hate Multinational Corporations

Multinational corporations are part of our everyday lives, and it is not like we can erase them all of a sudden, although I know plenty of people who, just like me, wish this could be possible. I personally think that if it is something that can be called the evil of the modern times we live in, that must be the multinational corporation, both as a concept and as a reality. Back in the days, we had companies, not corporations, but things have changed a lot since then. It is quite difficult to write a blog post on why I hate multinational corporations, for the simple fact that there are so many reasons to talk about.


First of all, multinational corporations do nothing but exploit. They exploit workers, by moving their production assets to third world countries, where they can hire children and other categories that cannot fend for themselves and pay them peanuts. They don’t care about anything in the world, and it is simply safe to say that corporations literally have no soul. There is no one to be considered responsible, their CEOs always hiding behind the fact that they have shareholders to care about. And CEOs can be fired at any time, and then you have no one left to blame when bad things happen.


Multinational corporations do nothing good for no one, except their mysterious shareholders. They create a harsh economic environment where small companies and local businesses cannot dare to compete, for the simple fact that these corporations are killing competition wherever they go. They offer dumping prices, forcing everyone else out of the market, while they do not care about fair business practices. And, while they get rich and fat, do you think they are sharing some of the wealth? No, they don’t; they are experts in tax evasion, and because they can move all around the globe, to areas where they don’t have to pay anything, because they took care of bribing the local authorities in advance, they do nothing good for the country they originate from.


Anyone who has ever worked for a corporation knows this truth: that there is no longer a real career ladder. You can put in long hours, you can work your butt off, but they can fire you at any time or give you some stupid reason for not promoting you. Middle management is considered now only a joke, since everyone knows there is really no such thing anymore, and it has not been ever since the 1970s. All that is left is a huge base made from workers who do not know whether they will be promoted next year, or fired, and top management that thrives and gets bonuses from slashing workers and cutting costs.


With their hands deep into pension funds and simply doing everything their shareholders ask them to do, multinational corporations are simply the greatest evil of our times. Child labor, lack of protection for workers, shady business practices, are all terms now associated with these entities. Although I could go on and on about why I hate them so much, I will stop now, because I’m in danger of turning a simple blog post into a book. I truly hope that you feel the same way I do and that one day there will be no more corporations to keep us down and exploit us.

Why You Should Make Your Burgers at Home Instead of Going to a Fast Food Restaurant



Fast food restaurants are all over the place and they are one of the major reasons why our country is currently plagued by obesity. They hurt us in more ways than one, since they not only feed us junk food that affects our health, but they also employ people they pay so little that they cannot afford eating anywhere else. They are just part of the corporate world we are living in today, which chews us and spits us like we are nothing but fuel for its well oiled machine.

In my quest of limiting the influence of corporations in my life, I am trying to do all that I can to depend on them as little as possible. It may not sound like much, but imagine what would happen if, one day, no person in the US or in the world would decide to never visit a fast food again. This is a scenario I love dreaming about, even if it is not realistic right now. I am doing my part and with the help of this blog, I hope to convince others to do the same.

Now I want to talk to you about something that will help you eat healthier and forget about going to fast food restaurants every day. I am the kind who prefers making his own hamburgers at home, and I found many benefits associated with this choice.

First of all, when you are making your own hamburgers at home, you are completely in charge of the ingredients. Do you know what goes into those burgers they make at fast food places? I bet you do not know the half of it. Let me tell you something that you may find shocking. According to a thorough research published by the Annals of Diagnostic Pathology, the content of meat in a fast food hamburger can be as little as 2% and as high as 14%. What makes the rest?  Mainly water content that makes for about half of a hamburger, and all kinds of inferior animal byproduct, like adipose tissue, blood vessels, and I do not wish to continue, as I may just ruin your appetite for good.

Now I want to offer you the alternative: make your own hamburgers at home. Buy the best ground beef meat you can find, as this will make your hamburgers taste heavenly, while being much healthier, too. Season well with your preferred spices, and do not go overboard with the salt. Did I mention that fast food restaurants are loading their hamburgers with fat and sodium? This is what you do not want your hamburgers to have.

I hope I convinced you. Next time you are in the mood for hamburgers, just get your own ground beef meat and cook your own hamburgers at home. Or if you don’t like meat here is an alternative.
